About

At the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, Student Government submitted a proposal to a school district competition for community service projects. While we care about a lot of issues in our community, one thing we are passionate about is the low literacy rates. We believe that students will read and read better if they have books they actually WANT to read. So, started a student-run library and mobile magic cart where students can find books and fall in love with reading!

At the end of the school year, we won the Young Entrepreneurs Award from the Philly Service Award which came with a trophy and prize of $20,000. We are using this money to revamp the space by the entrance of the school into a library.

Our library would not be possible without the Philly Service Award and the hundreds of books donated by the Philly Bookshelf. Learn more about both of these organizations and the great work they do for Philly schools by clicking the buttons below. Finally, thank you to everyone who donated a book, their time, or their expertise to our library!

If you are able, donate a teen-friendly book by dropping it off at Kensington Health Sciences Academy with Ms. Marcovici (emarcovici@philasd.org) or Mr. Feuer (efeuer@philasd.org). We appreciate your support!
